Hello, Science enthusiasts, today I am going to explain you about an important key aspect of our daily life. The people can’t survive without it in olden days. Yes, that was the “Light“. Now we all are watching to any objects because of the lights. This light was emitted by the Sun. The sun is one and only the main source of light on our earth. The light is called as the ‘Visible light spectrum‘. This visible light spectrum consists of seven different colors as ‘VIBGYOR‘.
The V refers to the color Violet, I refer to the color Indigo, B refers to the color Blue, G refers to the color Green, Y refers to the color Yellow, O refers to the color Orange and R refers to the color Red.
This light is the mixture of all these seven different colors. Your may check all these colors presence in the visible lights by doing an experiment with the prism. Don’t worry I will explain to you how to do this experiment. Or else you may also watch this colors presence in the visible lights when the sun lights and rain falls parallel.
You may see the rainbow is formed at opposite the sun in the sky. Here in this rainbow the all seven colors will be divided from the visible light and displayed separately.
Know I will explain how to do the light experiment with Prism:
- White paper or White wall
- Go into a room.
- Select a White wall or paste the White paper on the wall using the plaster.
- Darken your room (don’t allow sunlight or any artificial lights into the room).
- Hold the Prism on your left-hand palm or on a height surface as facing the white wall.
- Switch on the torch and expose the light such that it passes through the prism and falls on the White surface you have selected.
- Know you can able to see the light fallen on the White surface is scattered into the seven colors of the series like Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.
That’s it, Great job! Know you have observed that the visible light is consists of seven different colors.
Coming to the topic, Did you see any fastest moving item in this universe. Oh! thinking about the Ferrari cars and Rockets. Not these, there are still something which travels faster than these cars and rockets. Thinking what is it, it is “Light“. Yes, you may also observe the light comes first when the lightening occurs and then sound.
The lightning occurred at some thousands of kilometers away from that far distance the light comes first. This also indicates lights travels faster. Are you interested to know why this phenomenon occurs then read more….

Here’s the reason why lights travel fast:
The energy transfers from one place to another place in many ways. Conduction, Convection, Radiation are the most common ways that energy travel from more energy place to less energy place spontaneously. In these methods, the conduction and convection methods require a medium to transfer energy.
In that medium, the electrons are the most common things that transfer energy. By the random movement of atoms, they interchange energy by themselves and transfers in the energy from one place to another place. But the radiation process of energy transfer does not require any particular medium. It works by changing the magnitudes of the electric field and magnetic field in it. This can even also work in the vacuum it mean the space. The electromagnetic field travels in the form of transverse waves in the vacuum. This frequent change of energy is called as the light energy.
As it doesn’t require any medium, its travels without any interference. The light energy will travel up to 300,000-kilometers per second in the vacuum. There is no another thing which travels faster than the light. There is a fact that the sunlight from the sun takes 8 minutes to reach the earth.
