# Why the moon doesn’t fall on the earth ?

Hi Science enthusiasts, today I am going to explain you about an interesting fact on the moon. We always see the moon lies in the space. This is the natural satellite of our planet Earth.

It always revolves around the earth as the earth revolves around the sun. This natural satellite is 5th largest among all natural satellites in our solar system. The distance between the moon and our earth is about 384,400 kilometers. The radius of this is about 1.737 kilometers.

We know the Gravity on our earth is up to 9.8 m/s2 similarly, this gravity also exists with the moon. This value is 1.622 m/s2. This natural satellite is of 4.53 billion years old. This is a non-luminous body. We able to see this in nights only due to when the sun rays fall on it.

The surface temperatures on this are lies between -233oC to 123oC with respect to the day and nights on the moon. The first person to land on this is Neil Armstrong.  There is film captured on the basis of the natural satellite as “Moon” on June 12, 2009.

## Here’s the reason why the moon doesn’t fall on the earth:

The fruits of a tree fall on the earth due to gravitational force exist on the earth. This phenomenon is proposed by a famous scientist ‘Sir Isaac Newton’ in the 17th century. As the fruit attracted and falls on earth, why the moon will not fall on the earth? ‘Sir Isaac Newton’ solved this question and answered the science behind it. When the earth is attracting the moon with gravitational force, the moon will travel vertically to its force.

Because of this motion, our natural satellite will not fall on the earth. For example, if a person holding a bucket of water and rotating it round and round, the water in the bucket will not fall down. If he decreases the rotation of bucket or stops the rotation, both the bucket and water fall down. This is due to the body which is in motion will not come to stable condition at a time.

If it occurs then the force acting on this will dissipate in the other form. This dissipation is due to the Laws of conservation of energy. In the same way, as there is no friction in the space the speed of the this is constant. Because of this reason, the moon is rotating around the earth in a particular axis. So, that the moon doesn’t fall on the earth.
