We swim in the beaches or in any freshwater ponds. We know the fishes are lives in the water. They live in both freshwater and saltwater lakes. There are many types of fishes like Starfish, Jellyfish, Ocean Sunfish, Silverfish, Killer fish etc.., The farming of the fishes is called as the “Aquaculture”.
The branch of the Biology which deals with the science of fishes is called “Ichthyology” The average life spans of the fishes are only 2 to 4 years. There are some fishes which have a Giant shape, like Dolphin, Whale etc.., We also love to grow some fishes in our house in a top side opened glass rectangular box. This we called as the “Aquarium”. We grow some special fishes like Goldfishes etc.., in those Aquariums.
These are the special attraction in a house. You may saw these in some of the Star Hotels. They play a special attraction in those hotels to the visitors. You may see some dead fishes in an aquarium or in a pond are floating in the water. We remove them from with help of a net after confirming, did they live or not? Do you know why those dead fishes were the float in water? Let’s move on to the answer.
How the Science involves in floating of dead fishes in water:
After the death of any Living Organism on the earth, there will be some gasses produced inside their body. This process is also taking place in the dead fishes. As the released gasses are lighter than air, they float on the water. These gasses were mostly produced in the stomach of the fishes which is located at the bottom part of the fish.
Due to these gasses produced in the stomach, this part will undergo into “Buoyancy”. Thus the center of gravity of fishes becomes the stomach, they float on the water. Thus the dead fishes will float on the water in an upside down manner.
This is also happening in human beings. If a person dead in the lake or pond, after their death their body will float on the water. After some days these dead fishes will decay and the gasses were released into the water. Thus the dead fishes will sink to the bottom aquarium or in any water source where they live due to the gravitational force.
