Official Poker

Official poker is a game of chance and skill, but there’s much more to it than that. It’s important to understand how the rules of poker work and how to play them properly so that you can have fun playing the game with a group of friends.

When playing poker you’re dealt two cards, called hole cards. You can then decide whether to fold or bet on the hand. After the first round of betting is complete, another card is drawn and placed face up on the table. This is called the flop. This is a community card that all players can use in combination with their own cards to build a poker hand.

A third card is then dealt face up on the table. This is called ‘the turn’ and it’s another community card that all players can use in combination of their own cards to build a poker hand. Finally, a fifth card is dealt face up on the table. This is the ‘river’ and it’s one more community card that all players can use in combination.

A player can ask to see a live hand before the muck, however they are not allowed to reveal any information about it, or make any comments about its contents while the hands are in the pot. Stacking your chips in a way that interferes with dealing or viewing of cards is also against the rules. If a player is caught violating any of these rules they may be asked to leave the table.
