Official Poker Rules

Official poker rules are designed to keep the game moving and prevent cheating. The rules should be sufficiently detailed so that a decision-maker will know what the proper ruling is in every situation. The rules should also be formulated so that they are compatible with the Tournament Directors Association (TDA) rules.

ACTION: To make a bet, call, raise or fold a hand. A verbal declaration of an action is binding unless it is contradicted by the player’s actions or other corroborating evidence. If a player puts all of their playable chips and cards into the pot during the course of a hand, they are said to be all-in.

EXPOSED CARD: A card that has been revealed to one or more players by the dealer. In some situations, the card may have been exposed due to a fault in the dealing process or through another means.

TIE BREAK: In stud games, the suit ranking from low to high is used as a tie break. In other situations, a special procedure for breaking the tie will be used to decide the hand.

RESERVED SEATS: Management reserves the right to seat players in a way that maximizes the viability of the game. This includes limiting the number of family members, business partners and friends that can play together at the same table.
