Robert Ciaffone and the Official Poker Rules

Robert Ciaffone, also known as Bob Ciaffone, is one of the world’s leading authorities on cardroom rules. Ciaffone compiled the rules, rewrote them, and improved their wording and organization. He also served as a rules consultant for cardrooms, authored the official poker rules of the Poker Players Association, and created the first comprehensive set of poker rules for the general public. He passed away in 2003, but his work has inspired the game.

Dead cards, also called “dead hands,” are not playable. Dead hands, on the other hand, are not legally playable. The dealer, who posts the blind, determines whether a hand qualifies for opening. A dead hand is a non-playable hand. Dead money, or “dead chips,” is the amount of money a player places into the pot without showing their cards. In a game of limit poker, a player can check-raise, or raise their bet in proportion to the amount of money he/she has put into the pot.

While the game of poker isn’t an officially recognized sport, it is still played on a regular basis at casinos around the world. There is no set time limit to play, and players can take their time. As a result, players must learn to deal with excessive time. However, if you’re the champion at the World Series of Poker, you’ll be rewarded handsomely. But be careful not to take too long. If you’re new to the game, you might want to consult an online poker rulebook to get started.
