The Official Poker Organization

In 2009, the International Federation of Poker (IFP) was founded in Lausanne, Switzerland, and became the official governing body of poker. The IFP’s mission is to develop the game of poker as a mind-sport. The IFP recently announced plans to launch two new events in 2011, including the Nations Cup duplicate team event, which will feature over 130 of the world’s top poker players. While these new events may seem like a significant step forward, they are not for everyone.

Since its development in the early nineteenth century, poker has evolved into a global phenomenon. The game’s rules have evolved to meet the needs of players and organizers. There are different versions of the rules, but all are legally binding and designed to make poker more accessible to the world. The IPF has approved many casinos and associations to participate in its tournaments. The following are some of these partners:

New players will be seated at a table with an appropriate starting stack of chips. In tournament games, players determine their starting position by drawing the highest-ranking card in each suit. The dealer will raise blinds and antes at regularly scheduled intervals, based on the highest-ranking hand. As a result, the game can be played in many different ways. It is recommended that players practice proper poker etiquette and respect the rules and the venue.
