What Is Official Betting?

Official betting is a form of sports betting that has the approval of the governing body or league for the event in question. Officially sanctioned betting partners are required to adhere to specific rules and regulations in order to maintain the integrity of the sport. These guidelines also help to protect consumers from unscrupulous operators and unintentional violations of the code of conduct.

Most states have legalized sports betting, although some still prohibit wagering on collegiate teams. Illinois, for example, bans sports betting on in-state college teams through mobile apps, and New Hampshire does not allow any online or retail bookmakers to offer bets on collegiate games or events, including player props.

Generally, players and team officials are barred from accepting bribes or other benefits in exchange for fixing matches. This prohibition also extends to match officials and other individuals who work with clubs at lower levels of the men’s or women’s league systems, as well as those working for the FA at Level 4 and below.

All pre-live props are settled based on the relevant information available at the time of the bet placement. This includes but is not limited to – live game rule: all scheduled games must be played for wagers on Run Line/Total Runs, Home Team Wins (Half), and Highest Scoring Inning to have action unless otherwise stated. All other markets must go at least 7 full innings (6.5 if the home team is ahead) for settlement to be determined, except where specifically stated otherwise.
