Generally, most of the people will apply this Vaseline on their body in winter. If you question them, why you every day apply Vaseline to your body? They answer as, In order to stop the breaks and painful feelings of the skin. This was a petroleum jelly. Even you will also apply this petroleum jelly to your body. Most of the people don’t know what it matters on the skin.
The trade name for soft paraffin, petroleum jelly, and petrolatum was Vaseline. It was invented by the British-born chemist Robert Chesebrough (1837-1933). This is a semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons. A Vaseline was initially derived from the rod wax, then filtered the residue from the still through bone char. The name is thought to come from the German for water (pronounced “Vasser”) and the Greek for oil (elaion).
The first Vaseline factory opened in 1870 in Brooklyn, New York, and in 1911 the company built its first operation plants in Europe. Initially, Chesebrough traveled around the United States selling his product by demonstrating its medicinal properties.
He did this by burning his skin either with acid or with a naked flame, then rubbing the Vaseline around the wounds and showing the healed areas of previous burns. It was primarily promoted as a treatment of grazes, burns, and cuts but Vaseline has no confirmed medicinal effects. Yet, it does help speed the healing process by sealing the wound from infection and moisture. There are many colors in the vaselines, such as white, green etc.., These colors depend on their treatment of the formation.
OK, now we learn why these crackers form on our skin in the winter season. How the Vaseline matters on the skin and solves the problem. Don’t worry I am going to explain you about all this stuff. Let’s go…
Here’s the reason behind the formation of cracks on skin and applying the vaseline on our skin:
The cracks and breaks on the skin are formed due to the loss of moisture content in the skin. Generally, most of the people say to use Vaseline to heal these cracks or breaks on the skin. This crack on the skin will make us feel very inconvenience in the movements of our body.
Just this feels such as the skin is in the freeze condition. We feel very itching nature in these formations on the skin. Most of the people will advise you to apply the Vaseline to them. This Vaseline covers all that cracks and breakages on the skin. It moves in all the small grooves forms on our skin and makes the skin uneven to the plain condition.
It maintains the moisture on the skin thus no cracks occurs till its presence. If the applied cream vanished, the story repeats again. This was temporary treatment. If we leave these cracks and breakages as it is, then through these cracks many microorganisms will enter into the body. This leads to the many diseases.
In the early twentieth century, it was mixed with additives such as beeswax, to make effective mustache waxes. Now used in many skin lotions and cosmetics. Vaseline is a popular handbag essential, with uses ranges from lip balm to blister preventions.
